Gitanjali Jewellery store staffers siphon gold worth 70L

Nagpur: In a case that has sent shock waves among the jewellers of the city, four employees of a jewellery shop siphoned away 70 worth of jewellery which was meant for delivery to clients over a period of time. The accused were employed with Gitanjali Jewellers Retail Limited situated at Gandhi Putla Square.

The accused are Eugene Francis (32) of Buddha Nagar, Ambedkar Road, Sushant Kolcharwar ((32) of Mahal, Saurabh Kuthe (28) of Sahakar4 Colony, Bhandara and Akhilesh alias Akku (35) of Jaripatka, Patankar Square.

The company had handed over 2,397 gm of ready gold ornaments to the four accused between October 15, 2015 and January 28, 2016 to be delivered to customers on order. The ornaments, it is learnt, are worth 70,13,592.

Addicted as they were to cricket betting, the accused, instead of delivering the ornaments to customers, mortgaged these with a finance company and whatever money they got from it, they used it for pursuing their desires.

When the company”s manager Rajesh Vishwakarma came to know of their dark deeds, he lodged a complaint with the tehsil police, based on which offences have been booked against the accused and they have been arrested.
