Nagpur: Dreaded gangsters Yuvraj Mathankar and Shakti Manpiya, on whom the Crime Branch had imposed MCOCA, were on Thursday set free by the MCOCA Court. The court of Justice S S Das acquitted the two gangster along with their gang.
In a daring act, the armed goons and their gang members had entered the residence of builder Sarang Awatankar and after threatening him and his family, had looted jewellery and cash on 6 July 2016. Sarang was to get married the next day, i.e. July7, and therefore there were around 25 family members and relatives present in the house at that time.
The Hudkeshwar police had registered the case under relevant sections of the IPC and had arrested the accused. They were recently released on bail while serving the sentence under MCOCA.
