Nagpur: Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari joined lakhs of devotees in welcoming Lord Ganesh as the 10-day festival commenced on Ganesh Chaturthi on Thursday. The beautiful idol of elephant-headed deity has been installed at Gadkari’s residence, “Bhakti” in Ramnagar.
The Minister, along with wife Kanchan and grand children performed puja amid chanting of Vedic mantras. Gadkari religiously tries to stay at home during the 10-day Ganeshotsav in Nagpur. Earlier in the morning, Gadkari, accompanied by grandsons and daughters, went to bring idol of Vighnaharta for installation at his “Bhakti” residence. “Pratishtapna” was done at the hands of Gadkari’s youngest son Sarang. Kanchan Gadkari, eldest son Nikhil, daughters-in-law and other family members were participating in religious chores enthusiastically. Gadkari himself was ensuring everything is done perfectly.
The Union Minister said, “Ganeshotsav is a subject of belief. The Lord Ganesh is deity of wisdom. Light in the form of development can be reached from darkness through learning and knowledge. I pray to the almighty to bless the society with knowledge, science and technology for the people and country.”
