Nagpur: Union Surface Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the proposed building of Planning Committee (Niyojan Samiti Bhavan). The Rs 6.37 crore Planning Committee building will be constructed at Sadar-based old Rural Tehsil office. Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule was the chief guest. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Mayor Pravin Datke, MLC Girish Vyas, MLAs Sudhir Parve, Sunil Kedar, District Collector Sachin Kurve, NIT Chairman Deepak Mhaisekar, Executive Engineer Sanjay Indurkar, Planning Officer Krushna Firke and others.
Gadkari, speaking on the occasion said that the Planning Committee building, after completion, will be another beautiful feather on Nagpur’s cap and an added attraction. “The construction of the building should of highest quality. No compromise should be done on this aspect,” he stressed.
Executive Engineer Sanjay Indurkar, in his introductory speech, said that the building will be completed by March 2017 with an expenditure of Rs 6.37 crore. The present building was proving to be small for the Planning Committee meetings hence the need was felt for a new one.
