Nagpur: Hindustani Classical dance Guru Shama Bhate, disciples of noted Kathak dancer Guru Girijadevi Rahul and Rohit Mishra and Hindustani Classical singer Pandit Ajay Chakravarti, who have cast an impression on the ongoing Kalidas Samaroh, were felicitated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari on Thursday.
The artistes were invited at the Mahal residence of Gadkari for the felicitation programme. Kalidas Samaroh has been organised by Divisional Commissioner Anup Kumar with the help of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and Kalidas Ayojan Samiti.
The theme for this year’s Kalidas Samaroh is the ages old ‘guru-shishya’ tradition in Indian classical arts. The arts festival received a tremendous response from the city.
Nitin Gadkari on this occasion expressed that he was unable to witness the closing ceremony of the festival even though he was willing to. He also said that the festival has now reached national level with artists from parts of the country participating into it.
The Union Minister had an interaction with Guru Shama Bhate, Pandit Ajay Chakravarti and Rahul and Rohit Mishra on this occasion. His wife Kanchan Gadkari was also present during the programme. Divisional Commissioner Anup Kumar was felicitated for successful organisation of Kalidas Samaroh.
