Gadkari condoles death of Atal Bahadur Singh, says he lost best friend

Nagpur: The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed his heartfelt condolences at the demise of former Nagpur Mayor Atal Bahadur Singh. Describing Singh as a best friend, Gadkari said his death is a personal loss to him.

The former Mayor Atal Bahadur Singh passed away on Friday, November 19, after a brief illness.

“The late Atal Bahadur Singh, who never differentiated caste, religion, panth, was my best friend. We had great relations which lasted till his death. I am extremely pained at the loss of such a magnificent friend,” the Union Minister said while paying his rich tributes to the departed soul.

Gadkari further said, “Sardar Atal Bahadur Singh always played the role of a kingmaker in Nagpur’s politics. His outfit Lokmanch contributed immensely in the politics of Nagpur Municipal Corporation for a long time. His tenure as Nagpur Mayor is being remembered by all. Atal Bahadur Singh loved Nagpur City. He was always in the forefront in extending a helping hand whenever the city faced any sort of adversity. Nagpur will remember him as sentimental and responsible in carrying out social activities. The late leader always kept his word and was respected as a person with humanity,” Gadkari said.

The Union Minister recalled Sardar Atal Bahadur Singh’s valuable contribution in social, educational, sports and cultural fields. He was connected with several organisations. His erudite role as a member of Nagpur University’s Senate for two decades will always be remembered. He raised many issues for the benefit and welfare of the students. The society will always remain indebted to Atal Bahadur Singh for his meaningful works in various fields, Gadkari stated while expressing his heartfelt condolences to the departed soul.
