    From Rubeka’s Kitchen : Chicken Chettinad

    Chicken Chettinad
    Chicken Chettinad or Chettinad Chicken is a classic Indian recipe, from the region of Chettinad.

    1 kg chicken
    1 ½ cup onion [chopped]
    1 cup tomatoes [chopped]
    4-5 cloves
    2 tbsp peppercorns
    1 tbsp cumin seeds
    1 tbsp fennel seeds
    3 tsp coriander powder
    1 ½ tsp red chili powder
    1 tsp turmeric powder
    1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
    Salt to taste
    2 green chilly [slit]
    6-7 curry leaves
    Oil as required
    100 gms coconut paste

    Wash and clean chicken and cut it into pieces.

    Crush peppercorns, cumin seeds and fennel seeds together, roast the powder with few drops of oil and keep aside.

    Take oil in a fry pan add cloves, onion and tomato and cook till tomatoes gets melt.

    Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilly and curry leaves and mix well.

    Add chicken and turmeric powder and cook for 10 mins.

    Add chili powder, coriander powder and salt and mix well.

    Pour 4 cups of water and cook more.

    When chicken is half done add pepper, cumin and fennel powder and add coconut paste mix well.

    Add water if necessary and cook chicken till well done.

    When the gravy thickens and chicken in well cooked serve hot and garnish with coriander leaves.

    Serve hot.
