Nagpur: A team of experts from France will soon be visiting the proposed site of Rs 8,680-crore Nagpur Metro Rail project which will be equipped with latest technology and modern gadgets, making it one of the finest transport in the country.
The ambitious project will be partly funded by lenders and a French team will be arriving here for holding discussions and visiting the proposed site, Managing Director of Nagpur Metro Railway Project Brajesh Dixit said.
The project will require a loan to the tune of Rs 4,521 crore from various lenders across the world while remaining cost will be shared by Centre, state government (40 per cent) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation as well as the execution agency Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), he said.
The land for the proposed rail-car shed in the project has been handed over by Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC).
Efforts are on to design and built world-class elevated stations where both routes from north to south and east to west will meet, he said.
The three-car metro trains will carry about 3.5 lakh passengers daily.
Air-conditioned stations will provide commuters with comfort, safety and much desired relief from scorching heat, Dixit said.
The target for completion of the project is three years.
There are about 200 metros in the world and this will be 13th in the country, said Dixit, who was Divisional Railway Manager, Central Railway, Nagpur division till recently.
