Nagpur: The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police have arrested four thieves involved in a series of burglaries and vehicle thefts across Nagpur. The arrests come following intensive investigations into multiple reported incidents.
The cops first arrested two identified as Afroj Ansari Shamshad Ansari (22), a resident of Pardi, Bhandewadi and Manas Sushil Bhatia (24), a resident of Thakkargram, Pachpaoli.
Their arrest followed a probe into several cases of burglaries and vehicle thefts reported in Gadge Nagar, Wathoda Ring Road, and Kalamna area. According to police, the duo confessed to their involvement in several high-profile cases, including the burglary at residences belonging to various persons. During interrogation, the police have recovered stolen material worth Rs 3.45 lakh.
In Ayodhya Nagar:
Two more thieves were arrested by the Crime Branch and recovered stolen valuables from their possession. The accused were involved in three house-breaking thefts reported in Ajni, Sakkardara and Imambada police station areas.
The accused have been identified as Ayush Ashish Lakhote (20), Ayush Anil Fuse (19), both residents of Rambagh. During interrogation, the accused revealed the names of their gang members — Jabba alias Tejas Mithun Hanwate, Akshay alias Boda, both residents of Imambada.
The accused have recently stolen gold ornaments from the house of Tushar Prakash Tongse (37), a resident of Plot No 37, Shirdi Nagar, Ayodhya Nagar. The accused sold the stolen valuables to a jeweller Gopal Jadia, a resident of Itwari.
House burgled in Mankapur
Gold ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 1.75 lakh were stolen from a house in Mankapur police station area.
According to police, Doril Yujin Grante (29), a resident of Plot No 6, Ish Krupa Society, Sadiqabad, Mankapur, had gone to a friend’s place on Saturday night. Grabbing the opportunity, the thief entered the house after breaking-open the latch of the front door and decamped with gold and silver ornaments collectively worth Rs 1.75 lakh. The theft came to fore on Sunday morning when Doril returned home.
A case under Sections 331 (3), 331 (4) and 305 (3) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita has been registered by Mankapur police.
