Four persons, including wife of accused, attack woman for lodging rape complaint with police

Four persons, including wife of a rape accused, attacked a 55-year old woman and torched her house for lodging rape complaint against three men. The four accused have been exerting pressure on the woman to withdraw her rape complaint. The violent incident occurred in Sonegaon area of city on Sunday. All the four accused have been arrested.

According to police, the complainant woman Belabai Shriram Madavi (55), resident of Plot No. 85, Bharatiya Gruh Nirman Sanstha, Beltarodi Road, had lodged a rape complaint against Ram Ganpat Gayakwad, Sunil Pandurang Gayakwad and Raju Bhede with Sonegaon Police Station. The day Belabai lodged her complaint, the four accused Ashok Pandurang Gayakwad (30), Surekha Ashok Gayakwad (27), Indu Ram Gayakwad (30) and Soni Santosh Dakhore (20), all residents of Kaikade Nagar, Sonegaon started  abusing Belabai in filthy language and exerted pressure on her to withdraw her rape complaint against the three men. However, Belabai refused to fall victim to the pressure tactics of the accused. Enraged by this, the four accused on Sunday morning attacked Belabai and burnt down her hut. The accused even killed her dog.

Sonegaon Senior PSI Bansod, based on the complaint filed by Belabai, registered an offence against the four accused Ashok Pandurang Gayakwad, Surekha Ashok Gayakwad, Indu Ram Gayakwad and Soni Santosh Dakhore under Sections 436, 429, 504, 506, 34 of the IPC and arrested them.
