Four burglars arrested, gold worth Rs 8.29 lakh recovered by Jaripatka cops

Nagpur: Jaripatka Police arrested four criminals involved in the sensational house-breaking theft at the house of a travel agency owner in Ambazari area and recovered gold ornaments weighing 142.5 gram worth Rs 8.29 lakh from them.

The accused have been identified as Prajwal alias Pajju Vishal Shende (22), a resident of Lane No 12, Barakholi, Jaripatka, Kaushik alias Chintu Shankar Gedam (20), a resident of Republican Nagar, Indora, Manikumar alias Mogli Homaji Ratnam (22), a resident of Barakholi and Harsh alias Bobby Anand Meshram (20), a resident of Maya Nagar.

The accused quartet and two of their accomplices had burgled cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 10.38 lakh from the house of Rajeshwar Krishna Tiwade at Plot No 615, Jhethuji Thekedar Marg, Marartoli, near Durga Mandir in the small hours of Tuesday. Acting on a tip off, a team of Jaripatka Police raided an open place in front of Nagpur (Rural) Police Headquarters near Adat Lawns and caught the accused quartet when they were planning to commit some major crime in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Cops seized two sharp-edged knives, a screwdriver, an iron rod, packets of chilli powder, four cell phones and a Passion Pro motorcycle (MH-30/W-3675) worth Rs 66,000 from the accused quartet. Two of their accomplices managed to give a slip to the police team under the cover of darkness. A case under Sections 399,402 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against them.

During their interrogation, the accused quartet confessed to committing burglary at the residence of Rajesh Tiwade’s house in Ambazari Police Station area. Cops then recovered the stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 8.28 lakh from the house of accused Prajwal Shende. Further investigations are underway.

Two robbers nabbed

Meanwhile, Sitabuldi Police arrested two robbers and seized 24 Android cell phones and a two-wheeler collectively worth Rs 3.42 lakh from their possession.

Identified as Rupesh Mahesh Yadav (19) and Karan Raju Pagare (18), the accused are the residents of Tulsi Nagar, Bhandewadi. The accused duo came on a moped (MH-49/BY-3933) near Maharajbagh nursery gate and snatched away a cell phone worth Rs 6000 from Sheetal Tejramji Uikey (23) on February12.

Following a complaint lodged by Sheetal, Sitabuldi Police registered a case under Section 392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Cops investigated the case and arrested the accused. During questioning, they spilled the beans and confessed to committing two more such crimes in Sitabuldi and Hudkeshwar areas. Possibility of involvement of the accused duo in some more robberies cannot be ruled out.
