manmohan singh - PTI_0_0_0In a move that has shocked Congress circles and is being welcomed by BJP politicians, the special court examining the Coal Scam
has summoned former UPA Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for questioning as an Accused. He has to appear before the court in April.

Speaking to the media Prakash Javdekar, Minister in Modi’s government has welcomed the move calling it a vindication of BJP’s allegations made against UPA Government all along.

“Fraudulent coal allocations was a UPA government and Congress party scam and now everyone knows it” he said.

Singh was Coal Minister at that time apart from being the PM and certain allocations made to a Aditya Birla group company have come under the scanner later. CBI had called him for questioning twice before this.

Singh said though he was upset at this move he is confident that truth will prevail and he will come out unscathed.

JD (U) spokesperson Sharad Yadav has said that everyone believes Singh has an impeccable character and his own conduct has been beyond reproach he still has to take responsibility for what transpired under his rule.
