Former MLA Ashok Dhawad booked for abusing and threatening a lawyer

In a development that could trigger hot political debate, Dhantoli police have booked former MLA and Chairman of Navodaya Bank Ashok Dhawad on the charges of hurling abuses and threatening a member of the bank.

The complainant, Adv Hemant Darvhekar, resident of SBI Colony, Hingna Road, told police that he is member of Navodaya Urban Cooperative Bank. An Annual General Meeting of the Bank was held at Gujarat Bhavan on Wednesday morning. Adv Darvhekar attended the meeting along with his brother. While the meeting was going on, Adv Darvhekar sought Ashok Dhawad’s permission for raising certain issues. However, instead of giving permission, the Chairman of the Bank Dhawad strated hurling filthy abuses on Adv Darvhekar and even threatened him of dire consequences. Later, some of the accomplices of Dhawad too abused and threatened Adv Darvhekar.

Dhantoli police, based on a complaint registered by Adv Darvhekar, booked Ashok Dhawad and others under Sections 294, 506, 34 of IPC and investigating the matter thoroughly.
