Former Mayor Pushpatai Ghode passes away

Nagpur: Pushpatai Ghode, former Mayor, passed away on Sunday at 1.30 pm at her Gurudevnagar, Nandanvan, residence, due to post COVID-19 complications. She was 66. She leaves behind a son Pratik and two daughters– Pratiksha and Jyoti and a host of relatives. Last rites were performed at Gangabai ghat.

She was Mayor from March 7, 2001 to March 4, 2002 and Ghode had also headed Education and Women and Child Welfare Committees of Nagpur Municipal Corporation in past. She was the fourth lady corporator to be elected as Mayor.

After retiring from politics, Ghode moved to spirituality and worked with Gayatri Parivar. She was being treated for cancer and had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 1 and had successfully recovered but during last two days her health worsened.
