Nagpur: A dispute over a roadside shoe stall turned violent in the heart of Nagpur’s Sitabuldi market area after a young man allegedly launched a knife attack on an employee of a readymade garment shop, apparently out of anger towards the shop owner.
In a twist to the incident, the shop owner was reportedly the actual target, but as he was not present at the time, the accused allegedly turned his rage on the employee instead.

The incident occurred on August 2 evening near Variety Square. The injured employee, Ramesh Khangar (38), a resident of the Kalamna area, works at a readymade garment outlet named Garment House.
According to police, Khangar was sitting outside the shop when an unidentified man suddenly approached him and allegedly pulled out a knife. The attacker reportedly attempted to slash Khangar’s throat.
Khangar managed to move away and save himself from the potentially fatal blow. However, he suffered a deep injury to his chin. He also sustained a cut on his hand while attempting to defend himself and fend off the attacker.
His screams attracted the attention of people nearby. As a crowd began gathering, the accused allegedly fled the spot to avoid being caught. Khangar was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, Sitabuldi Police reportedly uncovered the motive behind the attack.
Police identified the accused as Qazi Samsuddin alias Sonu, a resident of Sakkardara, who allegedly used to operate a shoe stall on the footpath in the area.
According to police, the garment shop owner had earlier reprimanded Samsuddin and objected to him setting up the shoe stall on the footpath. The incident allegedly led to resentment against the shop owner.
Police suspect that Samsuddin went to the shop on the day of the incident allegedly intending to attack the owner. However, the owner was not present when he arrived. The accused allegedly then directed his anger towards Khangar, who happened to be outside the shop, and attacked him with the knife.
Police have arrested Qazi Samsuddin alias Sonu in connection with the attack and are conducting further investigation into the incident, including the circumstances surrounding the alleged planned assault on the shop owner.
