In brazen violation of the High Court orders and in an act of contempt, almost all the food kiosks at Futala Lake are not only open but are seen doing brisk business.

It could be mentioned that Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court had on August 20, 2014 rejected the petition filed by the shop owners running their eateries at Futala Lake, since it accepted Nagpur Improvement Trust’s affidavit in which it stated that it had snapped contract with Sell Ads and also ordered the shop owners to vacate the shops within seven days. In the affidavit, it was also informed to the court that NIT Chairman Praveen Darade had passed an order on August 16, 2014 in which it had revoked the agreement between Sell Ads (a local agency which further provided the space on rent to shop owners) and NIT. The order directs Sell Ads to vacate entire allotted space near Futala Lake within 7 days, failing which NIT would itself take action and responsibility of loss would lie upon the shop owners.

On August 26, 2014, Nagpur Today had tried to contact all the officials including the Chairman of NIT Praveen Darade and Chief Engineer of NIT Sunil Gujjalwar. Both did not respond to the calls for reasons best known to them.

President of People Against Corruption Sanjay Agarwal while speaking to Nagpur Today, said that if NIT does not take any action in the next 2-3 days, he will file contempt petition before the court against the food-kiosk owners and NIT.
