Departmental advice to consume safe food and drug

Nagpur: The Food and Drug Administration department, during its raids conducted from April 1, 2014 to August 31, 2015, obtained as many as 1250 samples of food stuff like milk and milk products, rava, edible oils, vegetable, mango, besan, sweets and various other commodities.

Of these samples, 951 samples were found as per standard by the analysts while 186 samples were found to be of sub-standard and 28 samples were declared unsafe.

Reports of 95 samples is still awaited while 10 samples out of 28 unsafe ones are subjudice and remaining 18 are under investigation. Of 186 cases of sub-standard samples, the department has imposed fine on 93 cases to the tune of Rs 10,33,273 while necessary action is under process on the remaining cases.
