Nagpur: Panic gripped the Wathoda area after unidentified assailants opened fire at the residence of Congress corporator Shubham Motghare late Tuesday night. Fortunately, Motghare and his five-year-old daughter escaped unhurt, although the firing shattered window panes of the house.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred shortly after 12.30 am. Motghare said he had just removed his shoes and was entering the house from the balcony when sudden gunfire erupted. His five-year-old daughter, Aartya, was also near the doorway at the time.

Fortunately, neither Motghare nor his daughter was hit by the bullets.

CCTV footage from the area is now being examined as part of the investigation. The footage reportedly shows two unidentified men arriving on a moped. Both had covered their faces with scarves. The suspects allegedly opened fire before fleeing the spot.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and Motghare has not named or suspected anyone at this stage. Police are scanning CCTV footage and gathering information to identify and trace the assailants.

The incident has raised concerns over security in the Wathoda area, with police teams now working to establish the identity of the attackers and determine the reason behind the firing.
