Nagpur: Panic gripped the Weda Hari area of Nagpur district on Tuesday after a massive fire suddenly broke out at a plastic warehouse located near the Jabalpur Highway on Kharsoli Road. The incident occurred in the afternoon and thick plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the site, causing alarm among local residents.
A video circulating on social media further fueled confusion, with a person in the clip claiming that a fighter jet had crashed in the area. However, officials later clarified that this claim was merely a rumor and not connected to the actual incident.
According to preliminary information, the fire started near a plastic warehouse situated beside Gold Coin Hotel. Reports suggest that female staff members from the hotel had set fire to garbage in the nearby area. Sparks from the burning waste reportedly flew into the adjacent plastic warehouse, triggering the blaze.
Since a large quantity of plastic materials was stored inside the warehouse, the fire spread rapidly within minutes. Dense smoke soon engulfed the surrounding area, drawing the attention of nearby residents and passersby.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the fire brigade was alerted and teams rushed to the spot. Efforts are currently underway to bring the fire under control.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. However, significant damage to the materials stored in the warehouse is feared. Authorities have launched a further investigation into the incident, and more details are awaited from the administration.
