Father, son bag golds at taekwondo nationals

Nagpur: In one of those rare instances when a father competes as a member of the same martial arts unit along with his son, with both bagging a gold medal each, Pravin Dhande and his son Krutharth, both bagged a gold medal each in a taekwondo national tournament organised by the Rajasthan Taekwondo Association at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Rajasthan.

The unit as a whole bagged two gold as many bronze and one silver medal. In this tournament which attracted the participation of nearly 2000 participants, conducted from June 1 to 4, coach of the unit, Pravin Dhande bagged a gold medal in the Poomsae (stances) event. He was examined in the Shipjin and Yopjang stances (katas).

His son bagged a gold and a bronze medal each in the Poomsae and the Kyorugi (fight) events. Om Umate bagged a silver, Arnav Rane baggeda bronze. Coach of unit: Pravin Dhande.
