Nagpur:
Katol Police arrested a farmer on charges of taking illegal electric connection from a pole that resulted in the electrocution of two young boys in Mohgaon (Bhadade) village the other day.

Cops took Narendra Vasant Madankar (40) into custody after conducting investigations and registered an offence of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against him. The two cousins — Sumit Keshav Marbate (21) and Mahendra Manohar Marbate (23) — both residents of Mohgaon (Bhadade) died of electrocution in their agriculture field in Panjra (Riti) near Gondimohgaon on Wednesday night. They had gone to irrigate their fields in the night. Both came in contact with an overhead electric wire and died. Bodies of Sumit and Mahendra were found in the shallow waters of the river nearby.

The tragedy sparked tension and the furious villagers demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. Under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ishwar Katkade and Police Inspector Digambar Chauhan of Katol, Assistant Police Inspector (API) Pal investigated the case. The probe revealed that Madankar, a resident of Gondi Mohgaon, had taken illegal connection from an electric pole using hooks for water pump to irrigate his fields. The two cousins Sumit and Mahendra unknowingly touched the uninsulated portion of the live wire and were electrocuted.

On the basis of API Pal’s complaint, an offence under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Coderead with Section 135 of Electricity Act was registered against Madankar.
