Nagpur: Facing the “heat” of frequent fires at Bhandewadi Dumping Yard, the Mayor Nanda Jichkar visited the site and took the officials to task.
During the inspection of entire Bhandewadi Dumping Yard, the Mayor found the wall cracked at many places, no security guards to prevent unauthorised entry into the premises, no adequate measures to control fires and other flaws. The exasperated Mayor directed the officials to immediately repair the wall, deploy security guards in adequate number and ensure fire-free incidents in future.
Jichkar was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Jadhav, former Mayor Pravin Datke, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, area Corporator Manoj Chafle, Chief Engineer Ulhas Debadwar, Superintending Engineers Dilip Jamgade, Manoj Talewar, Health Officer Dr Pradeep Dasarwar, Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Uchke, Green Vigil Foundation’s Kaustubh Chatterjee, Daksha Borkar, Surabhi Jaiswal and officials of concerned departments.
