Nagpur: Ajni Police have arrested a 23-year-old youth for allegedly harassing and assaulting a 17-year-old girl after she ended her friendship with him following her parents’ intervention.
According to police, the minor, who resides in the Ajni police station limits, had befriended the accused through Facebook. Their online interaction gradually turned into a friendship. When the girl’s parents came to know about it, they counselled her and instructed her to discontinue all contact with him.
However, on November 13, 2025, at around 7 pm, the accused, identified as Abid Ahmed Khan (23), a resident of Mariyam Nagar, Civil Lines, Nagpur, allegedly followed the girl while she was travelling on a moped with her mother. He intercepted her within the Ajni Police Station area and insisted on speaking with her.
When the girl refused, Khan allegedly behaved in a manner intended to outrage her modesty and slapped her across the face, causing her humiliation. The distressed girl then approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Based on the FIR, PSI Agase of Ajni Police Station has booked the accused under Sections 74 and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
