Extortion bid: “Pay up Rs. 50 lakhs or die”

Nagpur News: Forty eight year old Mouminpura resident Alimuddin Mehboob Muqaddam Ansari, on his way to his office from home, was intercepted by four people in a Maruti van, who threatened him at gunpoint, saying he would be killed if he fails to pay up Rs. 50 lakhs within two days.

The incident occurred near Shipla Rolling Mill, after an unknown person called out to Ansari from behind in an attempt to slow him down. A highly shaken Ansari approached Yashodhara Police to report the extortion bid, and a case has been filed under Sections 387and 34 and also under 3+25 of the Arms Act based on Ansari’s complaint. Further investigations are underway.
