Nagpur: A middle aged retired constable and his wife defrauded four persons of a family to the tune of over Rs 11 lakh on the pretext of selling them property between May 2010 and May this year.

Jaripatka police have booked accused Sudhir Keshavrao Jambhulkar (50), a retired constable and his wife Bharti, both residents of Bezonbagh in this connection.

According to police sources, accused Sudhir and Bharti had created fake property layout in the name of ‘Bharti Developers’ near Khobragade Square and started dealing in plots back in 2010. Complainant Atul Laxmanrao Kshirsagar (30),a resident of Plot. No. 50/386 came in contact with accused duo. Atul was interested in investing in property and following the affordable range of property he roped in three of his relatives. Sudhir and Bharti then started drawing money from the victims in instalments. Over the years the accused siphoned around Rs 11 lakh. However, done with payments, when Atul and his kin went to ask for their possession, they were in shock. The layout, which Sudhir and Bharti had showed to the complainants was not their rightful property. The duo had presented bogus papers and allotted plots to Atul and his family members. Following which Atul rushed to Jaripatka police and filed a complaint.

Based on the complaint lodged by Atul, Jaripatka police have booked accused Sudhir and Bharti under Sections 420, 468, 471, 34 of the IPC and started the investigation.
