Nagpur: What began as a routine anti-encroachment drive in Kamptee quickly spiralled into chaos, as two traders clashed violently in full public view, with the dramatic confrontation now going viral on social media.
The incident occurred in the bustling market area under the jurisdiction of the Old Kamthi Police Station, where the Kamptee Municipal Council had launched a crackdown on illegal encroachments. Backed by police security, civic officials were removing unauthorized structures and clearing obstructed pathways.
According to sources, authorities had granted the concerned encroacher nearly 30 minutes to remove his belongings before taking action. However, tensions flared during the operation when two local traders got into a heated argument.
Eyewitnesses said one trader accused officials of selective targeting and discrimination in the removal process, alleging that certain establishments were being spared. Another trader reportedly objected to remarks made about his shop, triggering a sharp exchange of words. What began as a verbal spat, a classic “tu-tu, main-main,” escalated within moments into a physical brawl.
Both men allegedly picked up sticks and wooden poles, attacking each other in broad daylight, leaving bystanders stunned. The sudden violence created panic in the market area, with shopkeepers and customers scrambling to distance themselves from the clash.
Police personnel deployed at the site swiftly intervened, separating the two groups and restoring order before the situation could spiral further. A case has been registered at the Old Kamptee Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, a video of the entire episode, captured by an onlooker on a mobile phone, has surfaced online and is spreading rapidly across social media platforms, adding fuel to public debate over the anti-encroachment drive.
Authorities have appealed to citizens not to spread rumours or take the law into their own hands, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt public order during civic operations.
