Controversial Mumbai Police sub-Inspector Daya Nayak ‘encounter specialist’, has been transferred to Nagpur Range. He has shot dead at least 50 gangsters in encounters.
He was reinstated in Mumbai Police on 16 June 2012 after his 6 year of suspension on charges of alleged corruption. In Feb 2006 Anti-Corruption branch of Mumbai police declared him absconding and after it he surrendered at the court.
He joined the Mumbai police force in 1995 as a sub-inspector and was later appointed to the Crime Intelligence Unit.
Sources confirmed his transfer order was finalised by the police commissioner’s office itself last month.
His transfer to Nagpur range , under whose jurisdiction fall the naxal-affected districts of Bhandara and Gondia, was issued by the state home department on Thursday.
Daya Nayak has inspired lot of filmmakers with his flamboyant and fearless style of working. Few years ago a movie was also made on his life and made a good box office collection.
