Embarrassing to host IPL when Cauvery protests are on: Rajini

Superstar Rajinikanth today appealed players of Indian Premier League franchise, Chennai Super Kings to wear black bands during matches to show their solidarity with Tamil Nadu farmers over the Cauvery issue.

“It’s embarrassing to host IPL during this struggle,” said the actor who is all set to foray into politics soon, adding, “At least the CSK should wear black badges to indicate the Cauvery issue.”

Rajinikanth also said that the time is not right for IPL matches to be organised in Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai.

He also said that he is going to take part in the silent protest by cinema stars to set up the Cauvery management board.

Urging Prime Minister Narednra Modi to constitute the board immediately, the superstar said, “The people of Tamil Nadu say in one voice, Cauvery management board. If the Centre does not set it up, it will earn the bitterness of all families of Tamil Nadu.”
