Nagpur:
The Union Government at the Centre has accepted the request of Maharashtra government to help citizens facing tough times in replacing the demonetized currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. The government has allowed the state government to accept old currency notes against payment of water and electricity bills, property tax and any other government dues.

This move has brought some respite to the citizens as now they can move their cash in hand towards paying these dues.

“This will also bring down the rush at the banks,” quipped a citizen standing in a queue outside a bank in Nagpur.
