Elderly man trapped, blackmailed in Hudkeshwar; Four including woman booked

An elderly man was blackmailed by four persons including a woman on the pretext of spreading rumours about his affair. The culprits had also extracted Rs 50,000 from him. The incident took place on June 29 between 10.30 pm and 11.30 pm under the Hudkeshwar police station.

Police sources said three persons including a woman called Ram Dattatray Dashputre on June 29 and asked him to meet at Manewada Square. As Ram met the accused at the decided spot, the accused stated that Ram was romantically involved with the woman present with them. When Ram denied the allegations, the accused threatened him to spread the rumour among his relatives and friends and thus defaming his image in the society. The accused demanded Rs 50,000 from him for stay mum over the issue. Fearing to ruin his image in society, Ram gave them the demanded amount.

However, Ram finally lodged a complaint of blackmailing with Hudkeshwar police against the people in question. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 384 and 34 of the IPC against all the four accused and started their investigations.
