Elderly cyclist killed by speeding car in Ajni

Nagpur: A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a 65-year-old man in the Dhantoli Police Station area on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Dudhrao Laxman Patil, a resident of Deo Nagar, succumbed to his injuries late at night.

Between 11:15 am and 11:30 am on April 28, Patil was riding his bicycle from Ajni Chowk toward Medical Hospital. As he reached the cement road in front of the FCI Godown gate, a speeding white Swift Dzire (MH-31-FA-8089) struck him from behind.

Witnesses stated that the car was being driven recklessly and at a dangerous speed. After the violent collision, which left the elderly man critically injured, the driver fled the scene without providing any medical assistance or alerting the authorities.

Patil was rushed to the Medical Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he was pronounced dead at 11:30 pm that same night.

Based on a complaint filed by Pawan Devrao Patil (45), the Dhantoli Police have registered a criminal case. PSI Shubham Bakal is leading the investigation against the unidentified driver under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act (134, 184). Police are currently tracing the vehicle’s registration to apprehend the suspect.
