Eight persons arrested for illegally excavating, stealing minerals from a hill near Rai Town

MIDC police have arrested eight persons on the charges of illegally excavating and stealing minor minerals in Isasani area of Nagpur. Cops have recovered the minerals, four trucks and other material totally worth Rs 8,13,025 from the accused.

According to police, the accused Narendra Shivdas Meshram (40), Mohan Chamru Kathote (28), both residents of Isasani, Ward No. 1, Ganesh Shankar Tekam (38), Sudam Ramchandra Bhonde (45), both residents of Shanti Nagar, Isasani, Ward No. 5, Sunil Umeshsingh Shriya (38), Takli Sim, in front of Gajanan Hardware, Hingna Road, Nagpur, Sanjay Shriram Ingole (28), resident of Isasani, Ward No. 1, Gulab Narayan Pradhan (50), resident of IC Square, Gedam Layout, Hingna Road, Nagpur and Baleshwar Vishnu Kumre (25), resident of Isasani, near Hanuman Temple, Nagpur were found illegally excavating and stealing minor minerals from a hill near Rai Town. At the same time, police reached the spot and arrested all the accused. Cops have recovered two tonnes of minerals from a truck (MH-31/AP 2031), 6 tonnes of mineral from truck (MH-31/3728), 400 kg of mineral from truck (MTG/3900), another 400 kg of mineral from truck (MH-31/CB 8944) and excavation material collectively worth Rs 8,13,025.

MIDC police have registered an offence under Sections 379, 34 of the IPC and placed the accused under arrest. PSI Pathankar is probing the matter further.
