Nagpur: The recent raids by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the Amtek Group in Nagpur and search of 35 premises nation-wide has raised many eyebrows. If media reports are to be believed, it seems that the raids have been indirectly targeted at Robert Vadra and Gandhi family for dubious reasons!
Notably, the ED conducted a nationwide raid on the Amtek Group on Thursday, searching approximately 35 premises. Among the names that were raided have puzzled everyone is BS Ispat. This name is surprising because two directors of BS Ispat were recently found guilty and sentenced by the court. Given the scale of the case, involving Rs 20,000 crore, it has garnered significant attention. While the figures dominated discussions, the story behind the scenes was different, a local media report said.
The ED officials were aware of this, which is why BS Ispat was also included in the operation. Notably, Amtek Group had acquired BS Ispat, with Mohan Agarwal negotiating the deal with the group. At the time, the case had attracted significant attention as it was rumoured that Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, was the real force behind running the Amtek Group. It was believed that the Gandhi family indirectly controlled the group, with Vadra being connected to the company. This angle was thoroughly investigated but eventually faded from public memory. However, the recent raid on BS Ispat has revived old memories.
The “game” of timing
Given that the directors of BS Ispat have already been sentenced by the court, the ED’s continued raids are baffling to many. People speculate that the ED might be trying to revive an old issue for a particular reason. Recently, the Congress party announced that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would contest the Lok Sabha by-election from Wayanad.
The timing of the raids following this announcement has surprised everyone. Although people are discussing it discreetly, there is talk about the “timing” of the raids. It is believed that someone might be using the Amtek Group and BS Ispat case to target Vadra again, possibly to hinder Priyanka Gandhi’s election campaign.
