Drunken Maruti Swift car driver tries to crush the chasing policeman to death; arrested

Nagpur News: A Nagpur policeman had a narrow escape as a drunken car driver tried to crush him under his car.

According to police, the police constable Samir Sheikh Sizauddin Sheikh (40), was going towards Dhantoli Police Station from Jhansi Rani Square at about 0140 hours of July 28. At the same time the police constable Samir noticed a brawl outside Parag Bar near Panchsheel Theatre. When the policeman was approaching the spot, a drunken driver of the Maroti Swift car (MH-31/DK 0377), Pankaj Lalchand Mirchandani, who was fighting with some people, dashed his car to the Charlie motorcycle of Samir and speeded away.

However, the police constable Samir Sheikh Sizauddin Sheikh, anyhow controlled his motorcycle and started chasing the car. But the senseless c, a resident of Khamla, tried to crush the chasing policeman with an intention to kill him by trying to ram his car to Samir’s motorcycle. He even did not stop his car when Samir asked him to do. But the die-hard policeman succeeded in stopping Pankaj Mirchandani’s car and detained him. When a medical test was done on Pankaj, the result was on the expected lines. Liquor in veins, well and above the permitted levels.

The Dhantoli PSI Chavan booked the drunken car driver Pankaj Lalchand Mirchandani under Sections 353, 279 of IPC and Sections 179,184,185,134,177 of Motor Vehicles Act and arrested him.
