Drunken driving leads to chain of accidents in Reshimbagh, 3 hurt

The recklessness and having no fear of law resulted in a driver critically injuring three people including two children late in the night on June 26, 2014.

The incident occurred at Reshimbagh Square falling under the jurisdiction of Sakkardara Police Station. An Indica Car driver who was driving the car in an inebriated condition hit three pedestrians injuring them critically.

According to eye-witnesses, the drunk driver along with another heavily drunk person was speeding on the overhead bridge from Taj Bagh to Reshimbagh Square.

At the Reshimbagh Square, the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed it into a two-wheeler on the road moving in the same direction. A little distance ahead, the driver swerved dangerously injuring two more people.

After this incident, the driver attempted to escape with his car, however, the car rammed into a road divider which finally halted the car. According to eye-witnesses, some onlookers managed to get hold of one of the two in the car and gave him a sound thrashing. However, the driver managed to escape from the scene.

The Sakkardara police have arrested one of two persons in the car and are in search of the driver. They have registered a case under relevant sections of the Motor-Vehicles Act and are investigating further.
