Drunkard man’s bonfire engulfs Police Post in Pratap Nagar

Nagpur: In a freak incident, a bonfire lighted by a drunkard burned down a Police Post in Pratap Nagar jurisdiction in the wee hours of Thursday. The accused has been arrested.

The accused, who has been identified as Shankar Devrao Kanfade (40), resident of Khamla locality, had lighted a bonfire under the influence of liquor in front of his house around 0200 hours on Wednesday. Due to strong winds in the wee hours, a spark flew and fell on dry leaves triggering a fire. The fire soon spread and engulfed the Police Post. By the time the fire was doused, the Police Post suffered considerable damage.

Pratap Nagar police constable Jayanta Tarade, based on a complaint lodged by ASI Prakash Arjun Dhone (54), booked the drunkard accused Shankar Kanfade under Section 435 of the IPC read with Section 4 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and arrested him. Further probe is underway.
