Nagpur: More than 12,000 farmers from Akoli, Gharod, Nirod, Lokhanda and Pala of Buldana district demanded to waive off loan amounting to nearly Rs 35 crore.

Under the banner of Athar Gramin Vikas Bahuddeshiya Sanstha the farners took out morcha on Ganesh Tekdi road in the second week of Assembly session.

It may be mentioned that the opposition has been raising the issue of complete loan waiver to farmers in the house. But this had no effect. The morcha taken out on Thursday was led by Chief Patron Gunwantrao Patil, President Ashok Majumle and Swapnil Majumle. Keeping the demands of the farmers Patil said that in five villages the land is not good for growing crops. There is no irrigation arrangements. Since last five years the villages are drought hit.

State Government in 2011 re-organised the farmers of five villages for the loan waiver and so the loan burden increased. State Government under 67 rule declared loan waiver upto Rs one and a half lakh. Due to these rule, not a single farmer of these five villages was free from loan. Due to continuous crop damage the farmers here were unable to repay the loan. Though the village is drought affected yet there is no employment opportunities for the youths here. There is no fodder for the animals. No camp have beern set up for the animals. From State Government there is no help for villages too.

The farmers have submitted a memorandum of 11 demands.
