Nagpur: A petty fight between a Naik Police Constable and his wife took serious turn on Thursday when the wife set herself on fire and a bid to save her her husband too was severely burnt. The incident took place in their house in Wadi area. Both Naik Police Constable Devendra V Nagmote, attached toTraffic Chamber 2, and his wife suffered severe burn injuries were rushed to Well Treat Hospital, Wadi. A team of cops from Wadi Police Station visited the spot and started the probe.
As per the details, Devendra Nagmote (39) sustained serious burn injuries while saving his wife Vaishali(35), who reportedly tried to immolate self during a quarrel with him. He tried to save her but both got injured very seriously.
Vaishali sustained almost 90 per cent burn injuries while Devendra had up to 40 per cent to 45 per cent injuries to vital parts.
Vaishali’s condition was said to be critical.
The doctors are trying hard to save her. The relatives of Vaishali alleged that her husband was drunk.
Police Sub-Inspector Deshmukh and Senior Police Inspector Pawar of Wadi Police Station were present at the hospital where the couple was admitted.
