Nagpur: After great efforts and continuous demands the city gets a sports complex and then the same is being turned into a marriage lawn during the marriage season, is great tragedy. Imagine, what the sports persons may be feeling. The same has happened with the divisional sports complex and now the sports activities here have come to standstill. As its going to take full ten days to clean the litter and food mess that is lying across the ground.
It is sad that for the management of the sports complex that instead of getting government fund for its maintenance has to generate the income by giving it on rent for the marraiges. For this, permission has been granted but at what cost? The sports persons have been deprived of practice. The sport complex which should be used all the year round for sports training activities and competitions is being misused now. Besides this, ground is being ruined.
Earlier, only a portion of ground would be given for the function but it was different on the evening of last day of winter session 22 dec as the entire complex was given not for a day but was being used marraiage purpose right from 20 Dec making arrangement and holding all the functions there. Now the condition is it is emitting obnoxious odour of stale food strewned on ground giviong apperarance of a dumping yard.
Imagine if the same programme was held on the commerical lawn the organiser would have to pay double the amount, where as here everything was quite cheaf as the whole ground was under them plus a huge place for parking free of cost.
The managing committee of the sports complex is earning a huge amount. But if govt funds are made avaliable then the sports complex would be used only for sports activities. The govt has been making big announcements for sports while felicitating the sport persons but what about the present state of affairs in sports complexes?
