Nagpur: Against the backdrop of the political blame game over the death of Disha Salian, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has clarified the government’s position. He said the case is under the jurisdiction of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the court, and that the inquiry will be conducted impartially. Bawankule expressed confidence that, ultimately, “the milk will be separated from the water” and the truth will come before the public.
He also said the government was serious about the drought-like situation in the state. A detailed report prepared after reviewing 18 districts will be presented to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Cabinet meeting on Thursday. He said the necessary decisions in the interest of farmers would be taken after the report was discussed.
On the issue of a Uniform Civil Code, Bawankule strongly criticised the Opposition. He said every citizen of the country must have equal rights and that a Uniform Civil Code is necessary for this. He also responded to the Opposition’s criticism that the UCC was being introduced for political gain.

Meanwhile, Bawankule welcomed the BJP’s success in the local body elections in Rajasthan. Criticising the Congress’s policies, he claimed that the people of Rajasthan had chosen the politics of development.
When asked about Manoj Jarange Patil’s march towards Mumbai, Bawankule declined to comment further. He said the Chief Minister had already made the government’s position clear on the issue and avoided speaking on the matter.
