Nagpur: Get ready for a delicious journey on and off the tracks! Central Railway’s Nagpur Division is gearing up to scale its hugely popular ‘Restaurant on Coach’ model, taking it beyond Nagpur Railway Station to four new locations, Ajni Railway Colony, Wardha Railway Station, Pandhurna Railway Station and Betul Railway Station.
After making waves in 2021 by launching the region’s first restaurant built inside a refurbished railway coach, Nagpur Division is now expanding the concept to create vibrant food destinations around railway premises. Decommissioned coaches will undergo retrofitting before being transformed into stylish dining spaces, combining nostalgia with modern amenities.

The Railway authorities have announced that these assets will be made available through e-auction on the IREPS portal, ensuring transparent allocation to entrepreneurs. Each site will feature thoughtfully designed landscaping, improved aesthetics, and an inviting ambience for passengers and local residents.
Contracts will run for 10 years, giving investors long-term stability and confidence. The restaurants will operate 24×7, offering hygienic, multi-cuisine menus that meet railway quality standards. Renowned regional and national food brands are expected to bid, adding flavour and commercial strength to the initiative.
Railway officials say the expansion will deliver mutual gains, a better dining experience for travellers, increased non-fare revenue for Railways, and new employment opportunities boosting local economies.
