Nagpur: In a major breakthrough under Commissioner of Police Ravinderkumar Singal’s special drive “Operation Thunder,” the Dhantoli Police have arrested three individuals, including a recently released history-sheeter, for possession of MD powder and other incriminating materials worth ₹8.73 lakh.
According to reports, during routine patrolling, police received a tip-off that some individuals were engaged in drug peddling near the DP Road area in Doctor’s Colony. Acting swiftly on the information, a team raided the spot and detained three suspects found behaving suspiciously.
The accused have been identified as Pradeep Purandas Uike, Chintu alias Vivek Lekhraj Banote, and Tejas Vijay Bhandarkar. From their possession, the police seized 10 grams of MD powder, an electronic weighing scale, two knives, five mobile phones, and a Swift car, with the total value of seized items estimated at ₹8,73,500.
Investigations revealed that Pradeep Uike is a notorious criminal with a history of seven serious offences, including murder, attempt to murder, and drug trafficking. He was released from jail just 15 days ago in connection with an attempt-to-murder case and had allegedly resumed drug peddling soon after his release.
On the day of the incident, Uike and his two associates were reportedly on their way to deliver MD powder when the police caught them red-handed. Preliminary inquiries have also revealed that the two accomplices have prior criminal records.
Police are now conducting further investigations to trace the main supplier and other key members of the drug distribution network linked to the arrested trio.
