The possessor of an enchanting smile, the beholder of those expressive eyes, dream girl of millions of fans, and the epitome of simplicity ‘Madhuri’ Dixit Nene, the unsaid queen of Bollywood, will celebrate her 46th birthday today. Madhuri Dixit, lovingly called as ‘Bubbly’ started her career with Rajshri Productions’ ‘Abodh’.

She delivered hits like Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, Prem Pratigya, Dil, Saajan, 100 days, Beta, Khalnayak, Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Raja, Dil to Pagal Hai, Pukar, Devdas, and the list still goes on.

Born in a Marathi-speaking Koknastha Hindu Brahmin family, Madhuri has dad Shankar, mom Snehlata, sisters Rupa and Bharati, and brother Ajit in her family.

An acclaimed Kathak dancer, Madhuri never dreamt to become an actor. Madhuri Dixit was always into studies and had completed her Degree in Microbiology Bombay’s Parle College, in Vile Parle (East), Bombay. Though she started her career in 1980’s but it was ‘Tezaab’ which gave made her queen of millions of hearts.

Madhuri has won 11 major awards and 26 nominations. She became the actress of the millennium in 2000. In Guinness Book of Records Millennium versions she is reported as the highest paid Indian actress. She became the Zee News Best actress ever in 2003. She won the BBC poll of best actress ever. She became the Rediff best actress ever.

Holding the grounds, Madhuri is known and admired for her simplicity. And, as a tribute to the Bollywood Diva Ram Gopal Verma made a film ‘Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon’. Though the film could not attract the eyeballs, the film depicts the immense respect she has earned in the film industry. Mesmerised with her enchanting and charismatic smile and acting in the film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, famous painter M F Hussain saw the film record 67 times and when she made a come back in 2007, he practically booked the whole theatre to watch his dream girl perform, dance and act.

Breaking the heart of millions of her fans, Madhuri got married in 1999 to Dr Sriram Nene, a UCLA-trained cardiovascular surgeon who practices in Denver, Colorado. She settled there with him the couple is blessed with two children Arin, born in 2003 and Ryan, born in 2005.

After staying away for a long time from the Silver Screen, Madhuri made a comeback with a movie based on dance ‘Aaja Nachle’ in November 2007. Despite the critics panning it, Dhak Dhak girl’s performance was highly appreciated in the movie. Later, she came in dance reality shows as a judge like Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ and now is busy filming for an item number for a Karan Johar film ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’. She also has 2 films in her kitty ‘Dedh Ishkiya’ and ‘Gulaabi Gang’.
