Nagpur: Thousands of devotees thronged the Sitabuldi-based ancient Shani Mandir on the occasion of ‘Shani Pradosh’ on Saturday (February 20) and offered special pujas to Lord Shanishwara. The day also marked distribution of 5001 ‘Panchmukhi’ Rudraksh to the devotees. Those devotees who performed ‘Siddhi’ rituals were specifically distributed with ‘naal’ (horseshoe) and rings.

At the outset, Vaidik Brahmins Pt Rakseh Shastri, Pt Shankar Tripathi, Pt Sawan Sharma and other scholars chanted ‘Rudra Ashtadyay’ for purification of 5001 Rudraksh, ‘naal’ and rings. The chief guests of the rituals were Nilesh Soni, Director of Arvind Art Jewellers, and Shreyansh Kamdar, an industrialist. Others who extended their cooperation in distribution of ‘Panchmukhi’ Rudraksh include Sanjay Pandey, Gurubaxani, Pawan Agrawal, Rohit Rajendra Agrawal, Shrikant Naidu, Tekchand Lekhawani, Parmanand Chhabra, Meena Chimurkar, and others.

The Manager of the Shani Mandir Pt Om Sharma stated that the day of Shani Pradosh occurred in Shukla Paksh since years. The days also marked the Pushya Yog. This Pushya Yog is benefial in many ways such as education, blessing with children, riddance of business difficulties, etc. Wearing of Panchmukhi Rudraksh facilitates maintaining balance of ‘Panchatatva’ (five senses) and thus happiness. The distribution of ‘Panchmukhi’ Rudraksh commenced at 11 am and continued till late night, said Pt Om Sharma.

Continuing with the rituals, ‘Mahaprasad’ has been organized on Sunday (February 28) for which devotes have been appealed to participate in ‘Annadaan’ heartily. A large number of devotees worked hard for success of the religious programme.
