Wardhaman Nagar hospital to feature single-port and multi-port robotic surgery, AI-enabled diagnostics, advanced cardiac imaging and robotic rehabilitation
Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate NewEra Hospitals’ 300-bedded flagship facility in Wardhaman Nagar, Nagpur, on October 23, marking a major expansion of advanced healthcare infrastructure in the Vidarbha region.
The hospital aims to bring advanced surgical technologies, diagnostic imaging, critical care monitoring and specialised medical services under one roof. The facility is expected to strengthen access to specialised treatment for patients from Nagpur and neighbouring districts, potentially reducing the need to travel to other cities for certain medical procedures.
Single-Port and Multi-Port Robotic Surgery
One of the hospital’s key highlights will be its robotic surgery programme, featuring both single-port and multi-port robotic surgical systems.
According to NewEra Hospitals, the facility will introduce what it describes as India’s first single-port surgical robot. Single-port robotic surgery allows surgeons to perform selected procedures through a single access point, while multi-port systems use multiple access points.
These technologies are designed to support minimally invasive procedures by offering enhanced visualisation, precision and instrument control. Their suitability and potential benefits depend on the procedure, the patient’s condition and the treating surgeon’s assessment.
Advanced Imaging and AI-Enabled Diagnostics
The Wardhaman Nagar facility will also house advanced diagnostic equipment, including:
- AI-enabled 3T MRI: Designed to provide detailed imaging to support the evaluation of a wide range of medical conditions.
- AI-enabled 256-slice CT scanner: Intended to support detailed cross-sectional imaging and assessment across multiple clinical applications.
- Hologic 3D mammography: Advanced breast imaging technology for breast health assessment and evaluation of suspicious findings.
The hospital also plans to use its 256-slice CT technology for cardiac imaging, including non-invasive assessment of coronary arteries in appropriate patients.
AI-Based Critical Care Monitoring
NewEra Hospitals said the facility will incorporate AI-based monitoring systems in operating theatres and intensive care units, supporting continuous observation of patients and clinical parameters.
The technology is intended to assist medical teams in identifying relevant changes and making timely clinical assessments, while decisions will continue to rest with qualified healthcare professionals.
Robotic Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
The hospital will also introduce robotic physiotherapy as part of its rehabilitation services. Technology-assisted rehabilitation can support guided and repetitive therapeutic movements for selected patients, alongside personalised treatment plans
