Design Yatra : Nagpur students paint NEERI wall in flying colors!

img-20160914-wa0020Nagpur: As you stroll through the Vasant Nagar road, taking a glance at NEERI wall or just happen to pass through VIP road, you will be greeted with the pleasant change. As many as 250 students from various colleges in Nagpur took to brush to paint the NEERI walls and that on VIP road with beautiful pictures of art. These art enthusiasts depict various artworks in their creation which soaks you into the colors of nature, wildlife, intrinsic beauty and even abstract art. The paintings are so captivating that even NMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, dressed in her colorful casual, appeared at the spot and had all praise for the beautiful idea.

About 35 panels, each 3 meter high, were created on NEERI walls along Vasant Nagar road.

Mukul Kulkarni inaugurated the program by painting a panel. Arundhati Sathe, convener of the day introduced the gathering, explaining the motto of Design Yatra and graffiti wall painting is an initiative to spread awareness of design and role of designer in society.

Asad Firdosy looked after the selection of design to be painted on wall. Colleges such as Smt Manoramabai Mundle college of Architecture, Interior design Department- LAD college, CISFA college, Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya, Sharad Pawar Chitrakala Mahavidyala, Somalwar Nikalas College — Interior Design Department, INIFD, participated in the activity.

Despite heavy rains student’s enthusiasm was at par and they completed the work around 3 pm. Nishant Choudhary from Asian Paints, which also sponsored the event was the chief guest of the concluding function. He appreciated the work done.

Dr. Pooja Pathak, Trilok Thakre, Bhushan Jeswani, Aniket Khodwe, Harshal Charde, Surashmi Kalmege, Mahesh Mokha, Subodh Sathe, were present to encourage and appreciate the work. The dignitaries at volleyball ground, Laxminagar East have inaugurated tree seating – Street furniture designed by Arundhati Sathe. Ar. Himani, Nilesh, Swapnil Kolte, Toshita Rathi made efforts to make the event successful. Prathana Nangia proposed a vote of thanks.
