Nagpur: Panic gripped the Hingna area on Wednesday after the highly decomposed body of an unidentified youth was discovered in the dense forest at Chakri Ghat in Beat Borgaon, under the jurisdiction of Hingna Police Station.
According to police, the body is believed to have been lying in the forest for six to eight days and was found in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification extremely difficult. The deceased is estimated to be between 25 and 35 years of age.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the body and conducted a detailed inspection of the scene. No identity documents or personal belongings capable of establishing the victim’s identity were recovered from the spot.
Investigators said the deceased was wearing a black-and-brown half-sleeved T-shirt bearing the word “SCOTT” and light khaki-coloured trousers marked “Tiago.” A ring was also found on one of the victim’s fingers, which police hope may assist in identification.
After completing the inquest, the body was shifted to a rural hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have also preserved DNA samples to facilitate identification if required.
As part of the investigation, Hingna Police are matching the victim’s description with missing persons reports registered in Nagpur district and neighbouring jurisdictions.
Police said the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report is received. Investigators are probing all possible angles, including whether the death resulted from an accident, natural causes or foul play.
Hingna Police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the deceased. Anyone who recognises the clothing or has information about a missing person matching the description has been urged to contact the nearest police station immediately.
