On Sunday, Buldhana district recorded 13.5 mm of rainfall, the highest in Vidarbha. The maximum temperature across the region ranged between 29°C and 35°C, remaining below normal, while minimum temperatures were between 20°C and 23°C, within the normal range. Relative humidity peaked between 84% and 93%, with Brahmapuri recording the highest maximum temperature (34.6°C) and Bhandara the lowest minimum temperature (20°C) on Monday.

The IMD also predicted a rainy winter for the region, attributing it to the influence of La Niña conditions expected to affect India’s weather pattern this year.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Montha, positioned over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, continued moving north-northwestwards at a speed of 18 kmph over the past six hours. As of 8:30 am on Monday, the cyclone was centred approximately 520 km east-southeast of Chennai, 570 km south-southeast of Kakinada, 600 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam, 750 km south of Gopalpur, and 850 km west of Port Blair.

According to IMD projections, Montha is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of October 28 and make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada by the evening or night of October 28. The storm is expected to bring wind speeds of 90–100 kmph, gusting up to 110 kmph.

In addition, a trough from an upper air cyclonic circulation associated with a depression over the east-central Arabian Sea to west Madhya Pradesh across south Gujarat and the northeast Arabian Sea, between 1.5 and 3.1 km above mean sea level, remains active. These combined weather systems, the IMD said, will result in widespread rainfall across Central India, including Vidarbha, over the next few days.
