Nagpur: A 42-year-old man fell victim to cyber fraudsters who deceived him into investing in the stock market with promises of high returns, resulting in a loss of Rs. 4.82 lakh. Kunjbihari Genlal Devalkar, a resident of Sanket Nagari, Samrat Nagar, Beltarodi, was targeted by individuals who contacted him via various cell phone numbers: 7449853514, 8697652068, 8961348788, 7450801896, 8961997676, and 7548933616.
The fraudsters, through persuasive tactics, convinced Devalkar to invest in the stock market, primarily using online trading platforms. He ended up depositing Rs. 4.87 lakh into different accounts between January 19 and February 10. Subsequently, the scammers ceased all communication with him. Realizing he had been defrauded, Devalkar approached the police for assistance.
Following his complaint, the Beltarodi Police registered a case under Sections 419, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 66(c)(d) of the Information Technology Act, and initiated an investigation into the matter.
