Crime Branch rescues 17-year old city girl sold in Yavatmal for flesh trade, 4 arrested

Nagpur: The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has rescued a 17-year old girl who was sold in Yavatmal for fresh trade and arrested four persons including a woman pimp. The arrested persons also include two wanted criminals.

According to police, the MIDC police had launched investigations into crimes under various sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. One of the victim minor girls (15) had given statements that her 17-year old friend had been sold by wanted criminals Gulfam Raju Rangari and Deepak Vijay Singh in Yavatmal. The girl was sold to two other accused namely Vijaya Charan Deshpande and Sachin Shelotkar for pushing her into prostitution. Acting on the statement of the 15-year old girl, the Crime Branch set up teams led by API Chaudhari rushed to Yavatmal and after sustained efforts traced the girl and rescued her from the clutches of the accused. In the process the cops also rescued another 19-year old girl who too was pushed into flesh trade. Both the rescued girls have been sent to remand home in order to providing them protection.

An offence was registered against the four accused Gulfam (24), resident of Rameshawri Ring Road, Deepak (24), also resident of Rameshwari Ring Road, Vijaya Deshpande (45) and Sachin Shelotkar, both residents of Yavatmal district.

The operation was carried out by PI B M Powar, API Y S Chaudhari, and other team members under the guidance of Addl Commissioner of Police Srikant Tarvade, DCPs Ranjan Sharma, Deepali Masirkar and ACP Nilesh Raut.
